Everyone deserves safe, respectful, and dignified care needed to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. Two incredible women are leading efforts to prioritize the wellbeing of all birthing people.
Inspired by midwives from Black, Indigenous, and immigrant communities, Jennie Joseph is re-empowering families and communities through her leadership of Commonsense Childbirth. And Chanel Porchia-Albert, founder of Ancient Song, is providing doula training tailored to the unique needs of women of color, those who are facing housing and food insecurity, and survivors of intimate partner violence.
They are excited to share two short documentaries that celebrate these women. With a focus on Black joy, their stories show what’s possible when people come together to advance birth justice for all.
