California Healthy Places Index (HPI) 3.0: A demonstration of the brand new, even-more-robust, third edition of the Healthy Places Index. The HPI has become a go-to data tool for hundreds of state and local government agencies, foundations, advocacy groups, hospitals, and other organizations that want to apply a health equity lens to better direct over a billion dollars in community investments and to develop critical programs and policies across the state.
Join and be among the first to experience the ways they've made this tool more useful than ever. You’ll also see an example of the sort of health equity impacts that the new and improved version of HPI will make possible.
Building upon HPI 2.0 and incorporating invaluable input from our user community, HPI 3.0 features completely updated data and introduces new and enhanced features to examine the link between race and place. The map now allows users to filter geographies by race, ethnicity, and country of origin, and to capture the impact of racist policies, the map also displays historic redlining data alongside the HPI score.
More new features to advance California’s public health, health equity, racial justice, and equitable fund allocation data include:
Track indicator changes over time
Conduct side-by-side map comparisons
View data by ZIP codes and unincorporated areas
Get policy recommendations tailored to the needs of their community within the platform
